The Importance of Stomach Cancer Research

Cancer research is vitally important and the work needed to find a cure is immense.  Today, so much weight is put on the awareness of diseases in our world, but far above that, is the need to bring attention to the research that needs to be done.  Project Periwinkle was founded to, in large part, fund stomach cancer research and contribute to the work that is actively being done to find a cure.  While awareness of stomach cancer is important, the need for research goes far beyond people simply knowing about this disease, the extremely low attention it receives, and the high commonality and death rates that come with it.  Without research funding, there is no research.  Without research, there is no cure, there is no medical advancement, and there is no forward thinking on what we can do as a society to combat this disease and better the future of the world.   With only 0.27% of the National Cancer Institute’s research budget going to stomach cancer research, there is a tremendous need for research funding from non-profits including ours.  Hopefully, the work we are doing and contributing to will in turn add to the effort to end cancer as a whole, regardless of the type.

We were founded with a research heavy mindset, and with the philosophy of maximizing our impact and doing so in a way where our sole purpose is our mission.  No one at our organization accepts compensation for their work and we are 100% volunteer based.  In doing this, we are able to direct 100% of every dollar we raise to the efforts of bringing awareness to, but largely funding research for stomach cancer.  With minimal overhead, and expenses far below the industry standard, we are able to direct more money into our work.  This is what sets us apart, and we are extremely proud of that.

As 2017 comes to a close, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Project Periwinkle.  100% of your donation will go to fulfilling our mission, and will be put to work to combat stomach cancer, funding research for a cure.  We cannot do it without you, and the generous support we receive.  I encourage you to explore our website and learn more about our work and organization.  Thank you for your support!  We are looking forward to the day cancer becomes a thing of the past.
