Transcript from our Special Announcement Video (02.17.18), Ben Broghammer, Founder & President
Nearly three years ago, I started this organization, with the mission of funding stomach cancer research, in memory of my cousin, Michon, who passed away from the disease in 2014. Following her death, I felt drawn to do something that would make a positive impact in our world, and make a difference in the lives of others. Since our inception, our message has reached every state, 26 countries, and tens of thousands of people around the globe.
Today, I am excited to announce our financial contribution to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
The transitional research conducted there provides those with a cancer diagnosis and their families with the best weapon there is for fighting back. Hope. They have been a leader in the fight back against cancer for over 40 years, offering patients the most up to date and innovative treatment options available through the integration of cutting-edge research into state-of-the art care.
Michon received her treatment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and our hope is that the work we will be able to support will allow our mission to continue forward. The center provided hope to our family during that chapter of our lives, and I am proud that we can give back to an organization that does so much, and also help to provide the hope given to others during their challenging and unknown times.
This is a big moment for us, and to all of you who have been a part of our work and our milestones, thank you for your continued and generous support! We would not be able to do this without you. And I cannot begin to describe what the support and generosity that has been shown to us means to me.
When I decided to start this organization, I hoped that it would, at the very least, make a ripple in the world, and together, we are making waves that are contributing to the advancement of medicine and helping to shape the world’s brighter future. I am tremendously proud of what we have been able to do, and very much looking forward to all that is to come.
