Impact Statement: August 2023

We are excited to share that with support from Project Periwinkle in 2022, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center initiated a project to develop a robotic haptics probe in collaboration with the Engineering Department of The University of Texas at Austin. They developed a prototype probe of robotic haptics and used it to evaluate nine gastric cancer specimens. Based on the promising results produced by this preliminary work, and because of our funding, they received additional support through the Andrew Sabin Research Fellowship, as well as pending NIH R21 grant funding. They plan to continue developing an AI-driven model to predict tumor response to preoperative therapy.

Project Periwinkle was founded with a deep commitment to funding and advancing stomach cancer research, supporting work that contributes to the improvement of quality of life of patients, and innovation that seeks the pursuit of excellence. We remain focused on shaping a better and brighter world for all through our work and the advancements we are making possible.

Thank you to all who continue to support Project Periwinkle! As we continue to move forward as an organization, we are extremely grateful for the generosity shown by so many around the world who make all we do possible.

We would not be the organization we are today without you!
